History
Driven to be the world leader in managed services.
In 1936, Davre Davidson was operating a peanut vending business.
His warehouse was the back seat of a Dodge; but his ideas were miles
ahead of his time. He dreamed of putting vending machines in places
they'd never been before, like factories and offices. And he knew
that the vending business wasn't about machines at all, but about
service.
During World War II Davidson met William Fishman, also in the vending
business, through a mutual customer. In 1959, they merged operations
to create Automatic Retailers of America, or ARA for short.
Over the years, ARA grew and diversified, first becoming ARA Services,
and ultimately ARAMARK in 1994. It has come a long way from its humble
beginnings…broadening its emphasis from “serving” to “partnering”…adding
economic value by offering the most innovative array of managed services
in the marketplace, with solutions customized to meet each client's
unique needs.
Today, ARAMARK is the industry leader in food, beverage and retail
services for sports venues. As part of our commitment to do whatever
we can to help our clients succeed in their core businesses, we work
very hard to understand and serve who we consider to be the ultimate
customer -- the fans.
