Fun Facts About Camden Yards

Did you know?

  • Oriole Park at Camden Yards opened as the home of the Baltimore Orioles on April 6, 1992.
  • At 85 total acres, Camden Yards includes the ballpark as well as the historic B&O (Baltimore & Ohio) Railroad warehouse, originally built in 1905.
  • At 1,116 feet long, the warehouse is the longest brick building east of the Mississippi River. Today it houses six private banquet spaces, including the exclusive Camden Club, which serve as popular locations for special occasions and corporate events.
  • Watch your step when walking down Eutaw Street. Home runs that have hit the path are marked there by commemorative baseball plaques.
  • The ballpark seats 48,876 people, including standing room.
  • Look for a 1890s Orioles logo on every aisle seat in the park.
  • The playing surface at Oriole Park is Maryland Bluegrass.
  • The playing field is 16 feet below street level.
  • Ivy-covered walls, green bleacher-styled seats and a picnic area beyond center field lend a nostalgic feel to Oriole Park. Its retro design inspired the architecture of many major-league ballparks built after 1992.
